BAHAMAS POWER & LIGHT COMPANY (“BPL”)
1. TARGET GROUP
(a) who are diagnosed with the virus,
(b) who are in quarantine,
(c) who have been laid off, or
(d) over the age of 60, not in quarantine and not diagnosed with the virus.
(a) Reconnection of all recently disconnected services.
(b) Deferral of bill payments.
(c) Suspension of disconnections.
(d) Bill payment plans: for customers over the age of 60 who have not contracted the virus or are currently quarantined, the following payment schedule is available:
(i) Pay 25% of balance over 6 months
(ii) Pay 33% of balance over 9 months
(iii) Pay 50% of balance over 12 months
Persons who fall within the target group must contact BPL for verification that they qualify and to register for benefits.
4. COMMENCEMENT AND EXPIRY DATES
For customers who have contracted the virus or are in quarantine: payments for the March 2020 to June 2020 billing cycle will be deferred.
For customers who have been laid off: all existing bill payments will be deferred until July 1st, 2020.
Suspension of disconnections will continue for as long as the Government maintains emergency orders.
